Visual artist Ann Hamilton created an event during which the participants used swings rigged to a massive piece of cloth that acted as a wind instruments to redefine the space of the drill hall. This created a sensory experience that changed every time a swing was ridden.
Working with the staff at the Armory, we implemented the complex rigging of the curtain, swings and musical instruments. We additionally worked with lighting designer Brian Scott to illuminate the cloth, and to define the space and performance aspects of this joyous and participatory piece of contemporary art.
